Timeless masterpieces, the works of J.S. Bach continue to be transcribed and re-transcribed—a practice even their original creator embraced. The three solo violin sonatas I have arranged for guitar, preceded by the radiant Prelude in E major, BWV 1006, offer a brief glimpse of what the supreme genius of counterpoint has left us: music at once intellectual and spiritual, intricate and ethereal, inviting the soul into contemplation and the heart into freedom.
